Could the Chargers and Eagles be heading to the Super Bowl
This will be an exciting and tough road throughout the 2009 NFL Playoffs, but at the end of the tunnel we predict to see two teams who have had consistently made the NFL playoffs year after year. The Philadephia Eagles and San Diego Chargers came close to playing in the SuperBowl last year as both teams lost on the last series of the 2008 NFL Playoff Championship Game in their respective conferences eventually losing to the 2009 SuperBowl representatives. Last year the Philadelphia Eagles lost on the road to the Arizona Cardinals and the San Diego Chargers lost on the road to the Pittsburgh Steelers and were eliminated from the 2008-09 NFL Playoffs but this year will different.
The Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers have mirrored each other success this 2009-10 NFL season and all the cards have been falling in the right place for these organizations to finally make the leap to compete for the 2010 SuperBowl. These teams are healthy and have more offensive weapons than any teams playing in this year’s NFL Playoffs, in fact, both teams have star running backs that were injured last year but they are finally healthy to make a strong NFL Playoff run. What makes these teams so dangerous is that each team’s running backs in La Dainian Thomlinson and Brian Westbrook are not even the # 1 option on their team’s offense anymore. These two teams have the most balanced run and pass attack than any other teams in the league with Pro Bowl quarterbacks leading their team.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Donovan McNabb leads the Eagles who have won sixth straight games as the Eagles have set a franchise record for most points in a season surpassing the 416 they scored last year with 429 points with an average of 28.6 per game this NFL season. The Eagles also have second year wide receiver DeSean Jackson who had a breakout season to become a Top 5 wide out in this league as he will be the first player in league history to be selected to the pro Bowl at both wide receiver and kick returner in the same season. Joining Jackson in the Pro Bowl will be fullback Leonard Weaver, left tackle Jason Peters, defensive end Trent Cole, cornerback Asante Samuel and kicker David Akers.
The Eagles do not have the traditional outstanding defense as they are giving up more points than any other team in the NFL except for the New Orleans Saints although the Eagles and McNabb have more playoff experience than any of the current rostered teams in the NFC as the Eagles have been in five of the last eight NFC Championship games winning in 2005 before falling to the Patriots 24-21 in the SuperBowl. With their experience, home felid advantage and momentum, there will be no stopping the Eagles who average 28.6 points a game, rush for 106 yards a game, pass for 238 yards, average .6 interceptions per game and .4 fumbles a game. Their experience, home field advantage and momentum which makes them unstoppable in this year’s 2009-10 NFL Playoffs will have them playing in Miami for the 2010 Super Bowl.
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS
The San Diego Chargers who we predict to represent the AFC in the 2009-10 SuperBowl, just like the Philadelphia Eagles are the hottest team in their Conference as they have won 10 straight games in a row and will have a first round bye after destroying the Tennessee Titans 42-17 in their last game. The AFC West champs streaked to their 10th straight win and tied the 1970-74 Miami Dolphins for most consecutive wins in a month with their 18th in a row in the month of December dating back to 2006. Just like the Eagles offense, the San Diego Chargers have an arsenal of weapons on offense lead by their Pro Bowl quarterback Phillip Rivers and an offensive line which features Nick Hardwick who is back at center after being out since the opener, but is now healthy at the right time for the start of the 2009 NFL Playoffs.
Phillip Rivers threw for 264 yards and topped 4,000 yards passing for a second straight season and has been in a good a rhythm all year. Just like the Donovan Mcnabb for the Eagles, Rivers has a former Pro Bowl running back in La Dainian Thomlinson who scored his 137th rushing TD of the decade topping the 136 TDs Emmitt Smith had in the 1990s for most in a decade in NFL history although he is just another weapon for the Rivers to utilize. The San Diego Chargers offense proves to be one the most prolific and efficient offenses in the league with a balanced attack from their passing game and ground which includes Thomlinson’s counterpart in Darren Sproles and a tandem of receivers that include Pro Bowler Antonio Gates at tight end and Vincent Jackson who have been too much for any secondary to handle all year.
The San Diego have outscored opponents 74-16 in the first quarter during its 10-game winning streak as Rivers has thrown a TD pass in 12 straight games. The Chargers score 27.4 points a game, 9 0 yards rushing, 248 passing yards with 0.6 interceptions and 0.3 fumbles a game. There defense has a healthy Shawn Merriman back and is giving up 20 points a game, 121 rushing yards, 205 passing yards for a total of 326 yards which is good enough to allow there explosive offense to take them to Miami to represent the AFC in the 2010 Superbowl When making your NFL Picks throughout the 2009-10 NFL Playoffs, take a look at the statistical facts and the experience these two teams bring to the table which will show you a valid reason why these two teams has the greatest probability of representing their respective conferences in the 2010 SuperBowl.

Rivers and McNabb? much rather see Brees and Rivers – Current and Ex Charger quarterbacks going head to head … that would be the rival game.
